DENTON – Coming off an efficient offensive performance in the season opener against Jarvis Christian, the North Texas men’s basketball team remains home to face Texas College Monday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. inside the Super Pit.

North Texas improved to 1-0 after scoring a 112-82 victory against Jarvis Christian on Nov. 13. Six players finished in double figures, including sophomore Jeremy Combs who led the team with 24 points. Combs picked up his fourth career double-double going 10-of-14 from the field and grabbed 11 rebounds (four offensive, seven defensive).

The Mean Green shot 52.1 percent from the field off 37-of-71 and hit nine three pointers against the Bulldogs. NT scored 54 points in the paint and had 16 fast break points to pull away from Jarvis Christian.

The new look offense scored 56 points in each half thanks in part to excellent guard play. Junior J-Mychal Reese, playing for the first time in two years, had 16 points and dished out four assists. Reese was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Freshman Ja'Michael Brown came off the bench and poured in 16 points off four three pointers. Brown also had five rebounds and five assists in his first collegiate contest.

The front court was solid as the Mean Green collectively pulled down 63 rebounds. Freshman Khalil Fuller had 13 points and four rebounds. Classmate Rickey Brice Jr. came off the bench and recorded his first career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

North Texas scored over 100 points for the first time in the Tony Benford era and it was the first time since 2010 in a game against Houston Baptist.
