Mean Green Madness Coming Oct. 26

DENTON - The North Texas men's and women's basketball teams will host the annual Mean Green Madness on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Super Pit. The event is free and open to the public, and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The theme for this year's Madness is Mean Green Rave, and giveaways will include 1,000 glow-in-the-dark sunglasses and glow necklaces.

This year's event will feature Mean Green basketball players in 3-point shooting and dunk contests.

Among the performers will be the Green Brigade drumline, the North Texas cheerleaders and dancers, Scrappy, DJ Question Mark, the North Texas Emeralds and dance groups.

There will be free t-shirts and SGA Rally Towels, and some lucky fans will participate in a $10,000 half-court shot and a $50,000 hot-shot challenge, sponsored by the University Program Council.

Free food and drink samples will be available on the concourse from Madness restaurant partners Papa John's, Whataburger, Voertman's Altitude and Raising Canes.

The North Texas men and women open the 2017 schedule with a doubleheader on Nov. 10 at the Super Pit. The women will host Mid-America Christian at 3 p.m., followed by the men vs. Eureka College at 5 p.m.
