Thousands Pack The Pit For Basketball Madness
Williams Tops Mitchell In Hoops Madness Showdown Dunk Contest
DENTON, Texas - Over 3,000 fans packed into the Super Pit for the first North Texas Basketball Madness on Monday night.
The Mean Green Nation was treated to scrimmages from both NT teams, a celebrity free throw contest, a 3-point showdown and a dunk contest that pitted All-American Tony Mitchell against Jordan Williams.
The dunk shootout even went to an extra session before Williams won over the judges and the crowd with a double-clutch reverse slam.
KTCK 1310-The Ticket personality George Dunham brought home the gold in the free throw contest, and Laura McCoy couldn't miss from deep in the 3-point contest. McCoy hit the game winning 3-pointer from the "N" in North Texas on the court - a 27-foot shot.
Your next chance to catch the North Texas men will come on Nov. 1, when the Mean Green will host East Central in exhibition action at the Super Pit. The women's team opens the season at home against in-state rival Texas State on Nov. 12.
