DENTON, Texas – Put away the beach towels and flip-flops because vacation time is over for several Mean Green squads. The North Texas soccer, volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball teams reported for duty today, joining the football team in action with the strength and conditioning staff.
Workouts kicked off at 7 a.m. sharp, and no team got down to business quicker than soccer. Led by strength coach David Trevino, the soccer team showed their conditioning level on a 2-mile test run. The veterans who completed the run in time earned their gear for the fall. Those who missed the cut will get another opportunity to get their new shirts, shorts and shoes later in the week.
Strength coach Chris Seroka had the men’s basketball team lifting weights bright and early this morning. Much of this first week will be spent instructing the newcomers on proper technique, but much of the team has had the pleasure of a high-intensity Seroka workout already.
