Treehouse Hosting Official NBA Draft Party

June 12, 2013

DENTON, Texas - The Mean Green basketball team is partnering with one of Denton's newest hangouts, the Treehouse, for the official North Texas NBA Draft watch party on June 27 at 6 p.m.

Players and coaches from the Mean Green hoops team will be on hand to watch all of the action, and celebrate the much anticipated selection of former North Texas standout Tony Mitchell. Draft experts across the country predict the Dallas native to be a first-round selection, which would be a first in NT history.

The Treehouse, located at 1512 West Hickory Street, is offering specials for anyone wearing green to the watch party. Live music will follow the Mean Green festivities on the Treehouse porch.

Mitchell rewrote the North Texas single season and career shot blocks records after a pair of All-Sun Belt seasons, which included a trip to the conference finals during his freshman campaign. The 2012 Preseason All-American posted 42 career double-digit scoring games while averaging 13.7 points and 9.3 rebounds as the centerpiece of the NT offense.

Mitchell was the leading rebounder and shot blocker for USA Basketball at the 2011 FIBA World Championships, and dazzled coaches and scouts at numerous camps, workouts and combines over the last two years. He is looking to become the first North Texas player taken in the NBA Draft since John Horrocks' fourth-round selection by the Dallas Mavericks in 1984.
