Draper Played In 34 Games This Season
IRVING - Redshirt sophomore guard DJ Draper was awarded Conference USA's 2017-18 Spirit of Service award along with 13 student-athletes representing the Conference schools.
Draper is set to graduate from North Texas with a focus in accounting in just three in a half years and will set sights on the university’s MBA program next January. The men’s basketball student-athlete currently owns a 3.810 GPA and is a three-time C-USA Academic Medal and Honor Roll recipient. Draper was nominated for 2018 C-USA Sixth Man of the Year as he led the team in 3-point percentage in 34 of 38 games. His 186 points this season marked the nation’s third-most by a walk-on. Draper is a member of the school’s SAAC, Honor’s College and achieved success while helping others in his spare time. He has volunteered for food drives, taken trips to children’s hospitals and elementary schools, and aided in Hurricane Harvey relief.
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service Award is presented three times throughout the season, with today's honorees representing winter sports: men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor track & field and women’s swimming & diving.
