Jeremy Combs Earns NABC Second Team All-District
Combs Picks Up Another Accolade For 2015-16 Season

DENTON -- North Texas men’s basketball sophomore forward Jeremy Combs was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2015-16 District 11 Second Team, the organization announced Friday morning.
Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes and coaches represent the finest basketball players and coaches across America.
It marks the first time since 2012-13 when former Mean Green standout Tony Mitchell earned second team All-District 23 being in the Sun Belt Conference. Combs is the just the second North Texas student-athlete to be honored in the last six years.
“We are very proud of Jeremy (Combs), he is a kid with tremendous character and a great work ethic,” head coach Tony Benford said. “He averaged a double-double this year and really stepped his game up for us with an outstanding season. We expect for him to continue improving and to lead us with another great season next year.”
Combs started 31 of 32 games for the Mean Green and was Conference USA second team all-conference selection after leading the team in scoring at 14.9 points per game and rebounding at 10.5 boards per game.
At one point during the season, the Dallas native was ranked top-25 nationally in five different categories with rebounds per game (10.5) being the highest at 11th in the nation. He finished with 325 total rebounds (sixth best single-season mark in school history) and had a 60.1 field goal percentage (seventh best single-season mark).
Combs led the team with 14 double-doubles, including 11 in conference play. He set career high marks in points with 28 points against Marshall and pulled down a career high 19 rebounds against UTEP. He enters next season with 771 points and 534 total rebounds in two seasons with the Mean Green.
