This will be North Texas’ second trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Mean Green made the Big Dance in 1988 after knocking off Northeast Louisiana (now Louisiana-Monroe) 87-70 in the Southland Conference title game. NT, the 15-seed, drew second-seeded North Carolina in the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Mean Green fell to the Tarheels 83-65, but NT’s Ronnie Morgan recorded 19 rebounds and the sixth leading scorer in program history, Tony Worrell, closed his career with a 15-point performance.
