DENTON – The North Texas men’s basketball team welcomes one of the hottest teams in Conference USA in UT San Antonio on Thursday, March 1, as part of a doubleheader with the women’s team, at 7 p.m. at the Super Pit.

The Mean Green (14-15, 7-9 C-USA) will face the Roadrunners immediately following the women’s game against UAB at 5 p.m. North Texas has lost five games in a row and are looking to build some momentum heading into next week’s C-USA Tournament.

UNT could finish in sixth place or could drop as low as 11th place with two games remaining in the regular season. Sophomore Roosevelt Smart had a tough week in Florida only scoring 17 points in two games on the road trip. Smart continues to lead the C-USA in three-pointers made with 104, a new North Texas school record. Smart is fourth in the C-USA in scoring at 18.8 points per game.

Sophomore guard Ryan Woolridge is second on the team in scoring at 13.1 points per game and is fifth in the C-USA in total assists at 161. Woolridge has started all 29 games and is 33rd in the nation in minutes played at 1,070.

Junior forward Tope Arikawe has made two starts in a row against the Florida schools putting up 12 points and eight rebounds against FIU. In his start against Florida Atlantic, Arikawe finished with nine points and eight rebounds. Redshirt sophomore guard DJ Draper made his first-ever collegiate start against FAU, scoring six points off two three-pointers.

The Mean Green are also chasing the single-season school record for most three-pointers made set by the 1997-98 team that hit 250 in that season. North Texas has hit 230 with at least three games remaining.
