DENTON - The North Texas men's basketball team welcomes Southern Miss on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Super Pit. The Mean Green will honor seniors Keith Frazier, Jacob Gross, Deckie Johnson, Derail Green, and J-Mychal Reese.

With three C-USA games remaining, North Texas (8-19, 2-13 CUSA) has to win three-straight games and get help to make the Conference USA Tournament presented by MetroPCS. The Mean Green are three games behind two teams in Florida Atlantic (5-10 C-USA), and Southern Miss (5-11 C-USA).

The Mean Green were tied at 32-32 against Louisiana Tech on Thursday, Feb. 23, before being outscored 53-35 in the second half. North Texas couldn't come up with answers to LA Tech's 1-3-1 zone leading to 19 turnovers. Freshman A.J. Lawson led the team in scoring with 15 points, while grabbing seven rebounds. Graduate transfer Derail Green added 13 points off four three-pointers and senior guard J-Mychal Reese had 12.

Freshman guard A.J. Lawson leads the team and C-USA freshmen in scoring at 11.0 points per game. Reese sits second in scoring at 10.6 points per game and leads the team in assists at 3.4 per game (86 total). Reese is seven points away from scoring 1,000 for his college career between Texas A&M and North Texas. Woolridge is fourth in scoring at 9.9 points per game in 18 games played.

The Mean Green have hit 42 three-pointers during the six games of the 3-point challenge.
