DENTON - The North Texas men's basketball team sits three games back of qualifying for the Conference USA Tournament and face red-hot Louisiana Tech on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. at the Super Pit.

With four C-USA games remaining, North Texas (8-18, 2-12 CUSA) has two home games left (LA Tech, Southern Miss) and two road contests (at Marshall, at WKU). The Mean Green are three games behind three teams in Charlotte (5-9 CUSA), Florida Atlantic (5-9 C-USA), and Southern Miss (5-10 C-USA).

The Mean Green went 1-1 last week earning an 83-73 victory against UTSA on Feb. 18. North Texas held UTSA's best player Jeff Beverly to a season-low three points. Four players scored in double figures with junior forward Shane Temara scoring a career-high 19 points. Senior guard J-Mychal Reese also had 19 points off a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

Freshman guard Ryan Woolridge earned his second-straight C-USA Freshman of the Week honor after a week that included one assist shy of a triple-double against UTEP and swiped a career-high eight steals against UTSA. Woolridge averaged 14 points, 7 assists, 8 rebounds, and 5.5 steals in two games last week.

Freshman guard A.J. Lawson leads the team and C-USA freshmen in scoring at 10.8 points per game. Reese sits second in scoring at 10.5 points per game and leads the team in assists at 3.5 per game (84 total). Woolridge is fourth in scoring at 10.1 points per game in 17 games played.

The Mean Green have hit 36 three-pointers during the first five games of the 3-point challenge.
