FREE Youth Uniform Day at Mean Green Basketball – Feb. 20th
North Texas Basketball and Head Coach Tony Benford will host Youth Uniform at Mean Green Basketball on Saturday, Feb. 20th vs. FAU at 7 p.m. All Youth Basketball participants in their jerseys will receive complimentary admission. Additional tickets for family members and companions start at $8. Redeem your free youth uniform ticket for admission at any gate of the Super Pit. Additional Youth Uniform events will be conducted at all Saturday events throughout the remainder of the home season.

Parents can check out the sports zone with happy hour drink specials prior to tipoff. The Mean Green Family Fun Pack is also available for $35, when pre-ordered and $40 at the door, the family fun pack includes four tickets, plus food and drinks for four. DENTON -- The North Texas men’s basketball team is riding high coming off another comeback victory and hopes to complete the Florida sweep against FAU on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. inside the Super Pit.

Fans are encouraged to wear Black for Saturday’s Conference USA matchup. The Mean Green are set for wear their alternate black jerseys for the first time at home.

NT is looking to continue to move up the C-USA standings with five games remaining. The Mean Green are currently tied for ninth place with a 5-8 record and sits just one game behind seventh place Charlotte. With a victory Saturday, North Texas would pick up its 10th home win of the season.

The Mean Green made a huge comeback against FIU on Thursday night trailing by 12 points with six minutes to play. Junior Deckie Johnson led the charge with four three pointers down the stretch and came away with two key charges on the defensive side. Johnson finished with a career-high 32 points off eight of 16 from beyond the arc. He tied a school record with eight three pointers becoming the first North Texas player to do so since Joe Earvin against Arkansas in 1998.

Sophomore Jeremy Combs had an impressive game as well earning his ninth double-double in C-USA play with 17 points and pulling down 17 rebounds. Junior guard J-Mychal Reese added 16 points and dished out four assists.

Combs leads the team in scoring at 15.7 points per game and in rebounding at 10.7 per game. The Dallas native is 13th in the nation in rebounds per game and 11th in total rebounds (279). Reese is second on the team in scoring at 14.9 points per game and leads the team in assists at 4.0 per game (105 total). Johnson is third at 14.3 points per game and has hit a team best 60 made three pointers.

As a team, North Texas is 78th in the nation in field goal percentage (46.0), 13th in free throw attempts (703) and 50th in free throws made (447).

The Mean Green will head out on the road for its final TV game of the season on Thursday, Feb. 25 at LA Tech at 8 p.m. on the American Sports Network.

About the Opponent: FAU
• This will be the 13th meeting between the two teams with the first meeting coming on Jan. 20, 2007. The Mean Green won the previous meeting on the road last season 79-72.

• In the last meeting, North Texas used a seven-point halftime lead to take down FAU on the road 79-72 last season. The Mean Green had three players in double figures with Colin Voss leading the way with 22 points (seven of 10 from the field) and grabbed seven rebounds. Jeremy Combs added 16 points and six rebounds in 26 minutes.

• FAU sits 11th in the C-USA with a 7-20 overall record and is 5-9 in league play. The Owls are coming off a road loss at Rice, 90-85, where FAU had a nine-point halftime lead. They have lost four of five games.

• FAU is led by Adonis Filer who is averaging 10.3 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game. Filer also has hit 19 three pointers and third in assists at 57 total. Ronald Delph is second on the team at 10.1 points per game and leads the team in total rebounds at 124.
