TROY, Ala. – Troy basketball coach Don Maestri has been at the helm of the Trojan hoops program since 1982 and sits at 499 wins for his illustrious career. On Saturday night, it will be up to the Mean Green to make sure he isn’t celebrating No. 500 this weekend.

Tipoff from Trojan Arena is slated for 7:30 p.m. and can be seen as a part of the Sun Belt Television Network in the southeastern United States, and on everywhere else. The Mean Green Radio Network will also have all of the action on 88.1-FM, 95.3-FM and on

The Mean Green will have its work cut out for it against a Trojans team that has won its last five home games at its new home venue. This will be NT’s first trip to the $40 million Trojan Arena which opened last fall.

With five blocks at ULM on Thursday, Tony Mitchell broke his own school record for single season blocks, and now has 73. Mitchell already owns the career swats record at 143, and now owns the top two individual seasons in program history.

Unlike in previous years, the Trojans have struggled at times shooting the ball. Troy ranks last in the Sun Belt and 311th nationally with a 40.1 field goal percentage. Ironically, Troy’s Ray Chambers is among the league’s most accurate shooters, and ranks second in the SBC with a mark of 55.6 percent on the year.

NT leads the overall series with Troy, 9-3, including a 2-2 mark in Troy, a 4-1 record at the Super Pit and a 2-0 record in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. NT and Troy first met in 2006 in the Trojans’ first season in the Sun Belt Conference. NT has knocked off Troy in two of the last three SBC Tournaments, including the final in 2010.
