DENTON -- The North Texas men’s basketball team looks to keep the winning streak going when they face Old Dominion Thursday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. (CT) on the American Sports Network inside the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

The Mean Green hold a 4-1 record when playing live on ASN, including a two game home sweep last weekend against Southern Miss. (W, 70-54) and LA Tech (W, 80-69). North Texas has climbed the Conference USA standings sitting in a tie for eighth place at 4-6 with eight league games remaining.

NT (9-14, 4-6 C-USA) has a chance to get within one game of Old Dominion (13-10, 6-4 C-USA) with a win Thursday night. The Mean Green are 0-3 all-time against the Monarchs after dropping both games last season.

The Mean Green are coming off a comeback win against LA Tech Saturday scoring 50 second half points to erase a 10-point halftime deficit. Junior Deckie Johnson proved the spark with 19 second half points, including an impressive stretch of 15 straight points to give North Texas its first lead of the game. Sophomore Jeremy Combs added 16 points and senior Eric Katenda finished with 16 points off eight of 11 from the free throw line.

Combs leads the team in scoring at 15.5 points per game and in rebounding at 10.6 per game. The Dallas native is 14th in the nation in rebounds per game and 13th in total rebounds (243). Junior J-Mychal Reese is second on the team in scoring at 14.9 points per game and leads the team in assists at 4.1 per game (94 total). Johnson is third at 14.0 points per game and has hit a team best 49 made three pointers.

As a team, North Texas is 49th in the nation in field goal percentage (47.0), 15th in free throw attempts (625) and 69th in free throws made (389).

The Mean Green will stay on the road for an afternoon matchup at Charlotte Saturday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. (CT) live on the American Sports Network.

About the Opponent: ODU

• This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams with the first meeting coming on Feb. 13, 2014. The Mean Green lost the previous meeting at the Super Pit last season 70-57.

• In the last meeting, North Texas was riding a five-game winning streak before the Monarchs ended that with a 70-57 win in Denton last season. North Texas was leading 33-27 at halftime before ODU outscored NT, 43-to-24 in the second half thanks to a game high 24 points from Trey Freeman (nine of 16 from the field).

• ODU sits fifth in the C-USA with a 13-10 overall record and is 6-4 in league play. The Monarchs are 4-1 in their last five games, including a overtime win at Charlotte last weekend, 74-69. The only loss since Jan. 21 was against Marshall at home, 78-75, on Jan. 23.

• ODU is led by Trey Freeman who is averaging 21.3 points per game and leads the team with 71 assists. Freeman has won the C-USA Player of the Week award three weeks in a row and is coming off a career-high 38 points in a overtime win at Charlotte. Aaron Bacote is second on the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game and Brandan Stith is third at 9.4.
