DENTON - The North Texas men's basketball team will venture on its biggest road trip of the season starting Thursday, Feb. 8, at UAB at Bartow Arena at 7 p.m.

The Mean Green (13-10, 6-4 C-USA) sits tied for fourth in the Conference USA standings with eight league games remaining. North Texas will take on its toughest road trip to date by facing UAB (6-5) and top seed Middle Tennessee (10-1).

North Texas took care of business winning three-straight home games against Florida Atlantic (59-53), FIU (69-67 OT) and Rice (74-70). The Mean Green are 3-2 on the road in Conference play but have lost their last two at LA Tech and Southern Miss.

Sophomore Roosevelt Smart is nine three-pointers away from setting a new school record in three-pointers made. Smart leads the C-USA with 82 three-pointers and is sixth in the nation. Smart is also looking to become the 20th North Texas student-athlete to score 500 points or more in a single-season with 437 points currently.

Sophomore Ryan Woolridge leads the C-USA in assists during league play and is climbing the single-season record books at North Texas with 135 overall.

All-session tickets for the 2018 Conference USA Basketball Championships Presented by Baylor Scott & White Sports Performance Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas are still available.

All pre-sale tickets provide access to all six sessions of the event. Single-session tickets will be available on Monday, March 5, following the release of the championship brackets.

About the Opponent: UAB
• This will be the sixth meeting between the two teams with UAB leading the all-time series 3-2. North Texas is 0-2 on the road in Birmingham.

• In the previous meeting, UAB used a late 9-0 run, including a game-winning bucket by William Lee to win 54-52 on Jan. 5, 2017. J-Mychal Reese had 16 points and Jeremy Combs finished with 10. Lee had 19 points for UAB and Chris Cokley added 13.

• In the last meeting in Birmingham, North Texas had a two point halftime lead but UAB scored 45 second half points to win 78-57 on Jan. 23, 2016. Jeremy Combs finished with a double-double off 19 points and 12 rebounds. Cokley led UAB with 16 points off 8-for-11 shooting.

• UAB enters with a 15-9 overall record and is 6-5 in C-USA play. The Blazers have lost four of their last six games. UAB is coming off a 65-60 loss at Old Dominion on Feb. 3.

• Senior Chris Cokley leads the team in scoring at 18.5 points per game and in rebounding at 9.4 boards per game. Freshman Zack Bryant is second in scoring at 13.1 points per game. Nate Darling leads the team with 41 three-pointers and junior Nick Norton leads the team with 109 assists.

• The Blazers are 11-2 at home this season with their only losses coming against top seed Middle Tennessee and UTSA. UAB shares the basketball, coming in ranked second in assists at 17.1 as a team. UAB is also third in free throw shooting at 74.3 percent.
