FREE Youth Uniform Day at Mean Green Basketball – Feb. 6th
North Texas Basketball and Head Coach Tony Benford will host Youth Uniform at Mean Green Basketball on Saturday, Feb. 6th vs. LA Tech at 3 p.m. All Youth Basketball participants in their jerseys will receive complimentary admission. Additional tickets for family members and companions start at $8. Redeem your free youth uniform ticket for admission at any gate of the Super Pit. Additional Youth Uniform events will be conducted at all Saturday events throughout the remainder of the home season.

Parents can check out the sports zone with happy hour drink specials prior to tipoff. The Mean Green Family Fun Pack is also available for $35, when pre-ordered and $40 at the door, the family fun pack includes four tickets, plus food and drinks for four. DENTON -- The Mean Green host fourth place LA Tech on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. live on the American Sports Network inside the Super Pit.

North Texas played one of its best defensive efforts of the season in a key 70-54 home victory against Southern Miss. Thursday night. NT snapped a five-game losing streak and is 8-14 overall and sits 3-6 in conference play. North Texas scored 41 second half points and held Southern Miss. to just 54 points to pick up the home win.

Junior J-Mychal Reese led the team with 19 points and was a perfect eight for eight from the free throw line. Sophomore Jeremy Combs fell one rebound shy of his eighth straight double-double finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Rickey Brice Jr. returned from an injury to score 11 points and had three blocks off the bench in 17 minutes.

With a win against the Bulldogs, the Mean Green could jump as high as sixth in league action depending on other results Saturday. North Texas has nine Conference USA games remaining for positioning in the conference tournament held in Birmingham, Ala. March 8-11. All 13 teams will qualify for the tournament with Southern Miss. not attending due to a postseason ban.

Combs leads the team in scoring at 15.5 points per game and in rebounding at 10.6 per game. The Dallas native is 12th in the nation in rebounds per game and 12th in total rebounds (234). Reese is second on the team in scoring at 15.1 points per game and leads the team in assists at 4.1 per game (91 total). Classmate Deckie Johnson is third at 13.6 points per game and has hit a team best 44 made three pointers.

As a team, North Texas is 49th in the nation in field goal percentage (46.8), 19th in free throw attempts (585) and 105th in free throws made (359).

The Mean Green will head out to Norfolk, Va. to take on Old Dominion on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. (CT) live on the American Sports Network for the third straight game.

The game against the Bulldogs will be a PINK OUT. All Cancer survivors get in FREE and proceeds from this event will help the American Cancer Society finish the fight against cancer.

About the Opponent: LA Tech
• This will be the 28th meeting between the two teams with the first meeting coming on December 18, 1952. The Mean Green won the previous meeting last season, 73-66, at the Super Pit.

• In the last meeting, North Texas raced out to a 21-point halftime lead before holding off LA Tech in the second half 73-66. Jeremy Combs had a double-double with 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Jordan Williams, Colin Voss and T.J. Taylor also had 16 points apiece. LA Tech guard Alex Hamilton led all scorers with 27 points.

• LA Tech sits fourth in the C-USA with a 17-5 overall record and is 6-3 in league play. The Bulldogs have won four-straight conference games heading into the matchup against the Mean Green.

• LA Tech is led by Alex Hamilton who is averaging 18.4 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game. Erik McCree is second on the team in scoring at 16.0 points per game and leads the team in rebounding at 7.4 rebounds per game.

Combs's Last-Minute Heroics Lift North Texas To 73-66 Win
