DENTON – Forward Jeremy Combs was rewarded for leading the North Texas paint presence against Rice with the Conference USA Co-Freshman of the Week award.

Combs teamed up with seniors Colin Voss and Armani Flannigan to hold the Owls to 6-of-22 (27.2 percent) shooting from inside the 3-point arc, while the Mean Green racked up a 36-12 edge in points in the paint. Combs led the NT forwards with 13 points and a game-high-tying seven rebounds in 26 minutes.

This is the second C-USA Freshman of the Week honor for Combs, who also won the award the first week of the season. Combs shared this week’s honor with Torin Dorn of Charlotte, who is Combs’ biggest competition for the C-USA Freshman of the Year award.

Combs leads all C-USA freshmen in rebounding (6.6 RPG), field goal percentage (58.2 FG%), blocks (1.0 BPG), and is third in steals (1.3 SPG). Dorn (12.6 PPG) is the only freshman in C-USA to score more than Combs (10.2 PPG).
