Up next: North Texas embarks on a two-game road trip. First up is Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday, January 31, followed on February 2 by a game at Arkansas State. Both games start at 7 p.m.

  All-time North Texas shot-block leader Tony Mitchell added to his career total with three blocks Saturday night, including a block of the first shot of the game which turned into a fast-break tomahawk dunk by Jordan Williams.

  In its last five games coming prior to Saturday, North Texas and its injury-depleted bench got scoring from just six players. Through the first half of the season, the Mean Green was getting points from seven or eight players most nights. Against UALR, only three players scored for North Texas until the 12:19 mark of the second half, when Niko Stojiljkovic hit a pair of free throws.

  North Texas used just seven players Saturday until the final minute of the game, the fewest it has used in any game this year. The Mean Green used eight players in its previous two games.

  Three NFL players were on hand Saturday: North Texas-ex Craig Robertson, now with the Cleveland Browns, all-time leading Mean Green rusher and Dallas Cowboy Lance Dunbar, and Cowboys' cornerback Brandon Carr.
