DENTON – The North Texas men’s basketball team has lost four-straight games and will welcome Conference USA favorite Middle Tennessee on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. inside the Super Pit.

The Mean Green are 6-9, 0-3 in Conference USA play after a 54-52 loss at home against UAB on Jan. 5. North Texas was outscored 12-2 to end the game and freshman guard Ryan Woolridge had a chance to tie but his shot rimmed out. Woolridge started for the first time in his collegiate career and scored eight points. Senior guard J-Mychal Reese led the team with 16 points and hit a go-ahead jumper with 19 seconds left. UAB’s William Lee had the game-winning bucket with five seconds left to steal a road victory.

Junior Jeremy Combs continues to lead the team in scoring at 11.0 points per game and in rebounding at 6.7 per game. Combs has played in 11 of 15 games and had 10 points against UAB. Freshman guard Ryan Woolridge is third in scoring at 9.2 points per game in six games played and classmate A.J. Lawson is fourth on the team in scoring at 9.1 points per game. Reese leads the team in assists at 3.5 per game (50 total).

The Mean Green are 6-4 at the Super Pit this season and have earned 11 home wins in each of the last two seasons (11-7 in 2015-16, 11-6 in 2014-15).

About the Opponent: Middle Tennessee
• This will be the 21st meeting between the two teams. Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series with a 13-7 record and North Texas is 4-5 at the Super Pit.

• In the last meeting, Middle Tennessee used a strong second half to defeated North Texas 86-64 on Jan. 21, 2016. J-Mychal Reese had 20 points in the loss after the Mean Green were only down two at halftime.

• In the previous meeting in Denton, North Texas came away with a 57-56 victory on Feb. 14, 2015. The Mean Green tied a school record for the largest comeback in school history after being down 21 points in the second half. Former standout Jordan Williams led the team with 16 points.

• Middle Tennessee is 12-3 on the season and 2-0 in league play after a road win at Rice (80-77) on Jan 5. The Blue Raiders are 4-1 in road games this season with their only loss coming at VCU.

• MT is led by the big three of forward JaCorey Williams (17.5 points per game), guard Giddy Potts (15.9 points per game) and forward Reggie Upshaw (15.7 points per game).

• The defending Conference USA Tournament champions coming into the game riding a two-game winning streak and have gone 10-2 in their last 12 games.
