DENTON - The North Texas men's basketball team will look to bounce back after suffering its first Conference USA loss by taking on first place Old Dominion Saturday, Jan. 6, at 5 p.m. at the Super Pit.

The Mean Green (9-7, 2-1 C-USA) played another close down-to-the-wire game against Charlotte but this time fell victim to a last-second layup in the closing seconds to suffer their first C-USA loss of the season. North Texas was 5-1 in games decided by five points or less coming into the matchup against the 49ers but couldn't hold a late four-point lead with two minutes left.

Three players finished in double-figures with senior Shane Temara and sophomore Roosevelt Smart scoring 12 points apiece. Freshman Zachary Simmons added 10 points and grabbed four rebounds. Sophomore Ryan Woolridge dished out a career-high 11 assists, the most by a North Texas player since 2011.

Smart continues to lead the team in scoring at 18.3 points per game and has scored 292 total points, 50th in the nation. Smart hit four three-pointers against Charlotte and has hit a team-best 52, which is 14th in the nation.

Woolridge leads the team in assists with 81 and is second in scoring at 12.8 points per game. Woolridge has been an iron man all season playing every minute in five-straight games and is seventh in the nation in total minutes played.

The Mean Green are hoping to keep getting more bench production after stellar outings from junior Tope Arikawe, Jorden Duffy and Allante Holston. The bench finished with 24 points, the most in the last three games.
