DENTON – The North Texas men’s basketball team hopes to finish the first conference road trip with a split by facing Old Dominion Monday, Jan. 2 at 4 p.m. (CT) inside the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

The Mean Green enter the matchup against the Monarchs with a 6-7 overall record and are 0-1 in Conference USA play after a 101-76 loss at Charlotte on Dec. 31.

North Texas fell behind early and allowed Charlotte to scored 52 first half points. The Mean Green played better in the second half but never got within single-digits. Senior guard J-Mychal Reese led the team with 16 points off 6-for-10 shooting. Freshman guard Ryan Woolridge set a new career-high with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Junior forward Jeremy Combs leads the team in scoring at 11.6 points per game and in rebounding at 6.3 per game. Woolridge is second on the team in scoring (11.0) and has scored in double-figures in three of four games. Senior guard Deckie Johnson is third on the team in scoring at 10.5 points per game and has hit 14 three-pointers.

North Texas has been playing 10 or 11 players the past four games with the addition of Woolridge and senior guard Keith Frazier. Five players played 20-plus minutes against the 49ers and 11 players were credited with a basket.

The Mean Green return home to host conference favorites UAB (Jan. 5) and Middle Tennessee (Jan. 7) next week at the Super Pit.
