BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (10/30/10) -- Three members of the Mean Green cross country teamed earned All-Conference honors at the Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday morning at Kereiakes Park.
Patrick Strong led the way for the men's team, finishing in eight place overall in a time of 25:34.10. The senior has been North Texas' highest finisher in every race this season thus far.
Adrian Nevarez was the second Mean Green finisher, crossing the line in 26th. The North Texas men finished in sixth place overall with 167 points.
The women's side saw two All-Sun Belt Conference finishers. Junior Ingrid Mollenkopf tacked on yet another top-10 finish as she crossed the line in 18:20.80.
Not far behind Mollenkpf was North Texas' Sara Dietz. Dietz ran her way into 10th place with a late surge to beat out Troy's Silvia Chirchir by two seconds with a time of 18:43.10. The Mean Green women finished in sixth place overall with a total of 157 points.
North Texas men's team was also named the Sun Belt Conference team with the highest GPA at the banquet on Frirday night in Bowling Green.
The Mean Green's next race will come two weeks from today in Waco, Texas, at the NCAA South Central Regional.
