DENTON, Texas - The North Texas women’s cross country team entered the South Central rankings for the first time this season and the men moved up one spot, in the latest regional poll released Monday.

The Mean Green women broke into the poll at No. 7 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s (USTFCCCA) South Central rankings, while the men’s team is now No. 8.

This is the first time in at least five years that the Mean Green women have been ranked regionally. This is the third straight South Central poll that the men have been ranked this season.

North Texas will host the first championship of the newly-realigned Conference USA when it hosts the 2013 Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships on Nov. 2 at Eagle Point Cross Country Course in Denton. The men’s 8K race begins at 9 a.m. and the women’s 5K starts at 10 a.m.
