Cross Country Team Heads To Huntsville Saturday
DENTON, Texas (10/16/08) ? After a 20-day hiatus, the North Texas cross country team is back in action this Saturday as they travel to Huntsville for the Sam Houston Invitational beginning at 8:30 a.m.
DENTON, Texas (10/16/08) After a 20-day hiatus, the North Texas cross country team is back in action this Saturday as they travel to Huntsville for the Sam Houston Invitational beginning at 8:30 a.m.
This will be the final meet before the Sun Belt Conference Championships take place on Nov. 1 in Bowling Green, KY.
On Saturday the North Texas men’s team will begin the morning by running in the 6,400 meter race followed by the women’s team at 9 a.m. in the 4,000 meter race.
The last time both cross country teams competed was back on Sept. 27 in the Ken Garland Invitational. Sophomore Patrick Strong highlighted the field by finishing in second place in the 8k race with a time 25:34. Overall the men’s team finished in fourth place out of five teams.
The women’s team will be looking to bounce back after a fifth place finish. Sarah Dietz led the way last time out with a 10th place finish in the 5k race.
North Texas is hoping to have some runners returning from injury and illnesses that have plagued them early this season. Billy Giano, Amanda Kean and Jessica Torres were all missing in action last time out but will be looking to give it a go Saturday in hopes of shaping up in time for the conference meet.Check out MeanGreenSports.com for results following this Saturday’s meet.
