FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - North Texas women's cross country topped all conference competitors at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on the campus of the University of Arkansas Saturday morning.
Senior Ingrid Mollenkopf was the first member of the Mean Green to cross the line, finishing in 42nd with a time of 21:42.7, as the women took 15th overall with a total team score of 420. Sun Belt Conference rivals UALR, Arkansas State and ULM finished behind North Texas, as well as TCU, UTA, LSU and Baylor.
The men's side saw Matt Russ lead the way, completing the course in a time of 31:34.7. Mean Green men's cross country finished in 22nd overall, topping rivals TCU and Arkansas State.
North Texas will return to action at the Sun Belt Conference Championships. The SBC Championships will be held at the Western Kentucky Cross Country Course in Bowling Green, Ky., and will take place on Sat. October 29.
