Cross Country Team Set To Host 32nd Annual North Texas Invitational

DENTON, Texas (10/01/09) - With the Sun Belt Championship only weeks away, the North Texas cross country teams will take to the Eagle Point Cross-Country Course for perhaps the last time when they host the 32nd annual North Texas Invitational Friday beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Mean Green will compete against six other schools tomorrow, of which include Louisiana-Monroe, Angelo State, Tarleton State, University of Dallas, Northwood University and Paul Quinn College.

The meet will get underway at 5:30 p.m. with the men's 8k run first, followed by the women's 5k mile run at approximately 6 p.m.

The men's team is coming off a first place finish from two weeks ago when North Texas hosted the Ken Garland Invitational. Junior Patrick Strong continued his early season dominance with a second place finish of 25:55. North Texas also got top-10 performances from senior's Garrett Sage (7th) and Josue Nunez (9th).

The North Texas men's team enters this meet ranked 13th in the South Central Division I Cross Country Rankings.

The women's team has been led by both sophomore Sara Dietz and junior Ingrid Mollenkompf in both races in 2009. The two have flip-flopped for the team's best performance through two races thus far.
