DENTON, Texas -
The North Texas cross country team will host the Ken Garland Invitational this Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
The Mean Green women will compete with a full roster for the first time this season, while the men’s team will run at full strength for the second time this season.
“The men have had a whole month of hard training since their last meet at the Bear Twilight Invitational,” said Coach Stefanie Slekis. “This will prepare them for one of the biggest meets this season, The Chili Pepper Festival.”
On the men’s side, the main contender will be Baylor’s A team, which North Texas defeated early this season.
For the first time this season the Mean Green will have Jo Adams, who is considered an integral part of the team’s chances.
The course design for Saturday is the same course, with additional 200 meters for the women’s 5K and the men will run another loop, as the Conference USA Championships will use on Nov. 2.
“Having both the men and women compete on the course laid out for our conference championship is a great way to prepare them for the season championship, “said Slekis.
