DENTON, Texas -
North Texas cross country competed in the Gerald Richey Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning, their second meet of the season.
“The UTA Gerald Richey Invitational was a great opportunity for our athletes who will be vying for a spot to compete on our conference and regional teams,”said coach Slekis. “The eight athletes who competed today all improved from the Bear Twilight meet two weeks ago, they all held faster paces for longer races here at UTA.”
Junior Austin Yaeger led the way for the men with a time of 20:40.8. Also claiming top 20 finishes were freshman Chris Chaillot and Aaron Davis.
Yvette Hernandez was the top women’s qualifier for the Mean Green. The sophomore completed her 5k in 19:31.7. The women finished fifth overall.
The next Mean Green cross country will host the Ken Garland Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28.
