DENTON, Texas -
North Texas cross country coach Stefanie Slekis announced the team’s 2013 schedule this week.
"The schedule this year provides competitive opportunities for both our newcomers and returning student-athletes to come together as we prepare for the championship portion of the season,” said Slekis.
The Mean Green kicks off 2013 on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Bear Twilight Invitational in Waco, Texas.
North Texas will host two home meets this season, one of which will be the Conference USA Championships November 2.
“One of the main highlights for me this season will be hosting both the Ken Garland Invitational (Sept. 28) and the Conference USA Championships on our home course,” Slekis said. “I have already spent a great deal of my time in Denton mapping out the C-USA championship courses and I am confident we will put on two great events there this season."
The men's team finished first last year at the Ken Garland Invitational. As a Freshman Silvester Harrison III took first in the men's four-mile run with a time of 20:25, while classmate Bryce McAndrew took third place.
North Texas men's cross country finished in second place at the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Championships, it's the highest finish since 2007.
