Strong Finishes 18th At NCAA South Central Championships


WACO, Texas (11/14/09) - Junior Patrick Strong improved upon his previous year's results at the NCAA South Central for a third straight season, finishing 18th in the 10k race in a time of 31:47. By placing int the top 25, Strong earned a spot on the 2009 USTFCCCA Division I South Central All-Regional Team for a second straight season.

Last year the New Zealand native finished 20th at the NCAA Regionals and 41st in 2007.

Meanwhile the women's team, who came into the meet ranked 12th in the South Central Region, finished 13th on Saturday with 344 points. Junior transfer Ingrid Mollenkopf was once again the Mean Green's top runner, finishing 39th in a time of 22:38.

Following Mollenkopf was Sara Dietz (53rd- 23:02), Sallie Anderson (73rd- 23:25), Amanda Kean (81st- 23:41), Amy Alcala (101st- 24:23) and Haley Cowan (127th- 25:41).

The men's team was unable to send a full squad due to injuries. The only other runner besides Strong was senior Matthew Peters, who finished 83rd in a time of 34:12 in his final race of his career at North Texas.
