DENTON, Texas - The North Texas men’s cross country team finished in second place while the women took third at the Conference USA Championships this Saturday.
“Entering a new conference we wanted to make a statement,” said coach Stefanie Slekis. “Having six men finish in the top 21 was a hug accomplishment, along with two women within reach of the top-five in the 5K.”
Sophomore Troy Taylor led the way for the Mean Green finishing ninth overall with a time of (25:30.35), the first of five top 16 finishes at the championships.
Taylor was named to the second-team all-conference with teammates Matt Russ, Alejandro Valencia, and Silvester Harrison. James Coleman and Bryce McAndrew earned third-team all-conference honors for the Mean Green.
On the women’s side North Texas senior Jo Adams finished third overall in the 5K (17.22.73), earning first-team all-conference along with teammate Charlotte Wilson who placed sixth (17:34.14).
