CHARLOTTE, NC - The North Texas men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Conference USA championships as the men’s team finished fourth and the women’s squad was sixth Saturday morning at the Frank Liske Park hosted by Charlotte.

“We thought going into the meet Susannah could run with the top eight finishers,” cross country coach Stefanie Slekis said. “She did a great job closing in the last 2k of the course to finish fourth. It was great seeing Christina earn All-Conference for the first time after just missing out last year.”

Sophomore Susannah Lynch led the women’s team with a fourth place finish at 17:19.0. Lynch was one of the top seven finishers to earn first team All-Conference honors. Classmate Christina Moralez came in 19th with a time of 18:02.2, earning third team All-Conference. Senior Kylee Kittrell was next to finish in 32nd place at 18:35.0 and junior Brittany White was 40th with a time of 18:47.5. Sophomore Kellee McCann rounded out the scoring in 45th place at 18:56.9.

Kittrell had her best finish ever at the C-USA championships finishing 30 spots better than her previous finish (60th).

Senior James Coleman paced North Texas with a 16th place finish with a time of 25:09.0. Freshman Florian Lussy came in 18th with a personal best time of 25:19.1 and junior Mike Lowe was right behind in 19th place at 25:25.8. Redshirt freshman Alex Cleveland fell one place short of finishing All-Conference in 22nd place with a time of 25:34.6. Junior Zack Kirkland was the final scorer for the Mean Green in 30th at 25:55.7.

“Our top three runners ran solid races but our second pack ran really well today,” Slekis added. “That group of Alex, Zack, Kyle and Rick did an excellent job to keep pace. We have a young group with four of our top seven runners underclassmen. I think we will regroup and have an excellent showing at the NCAA regionals in two weeks.”

Coleman and Lowe picked up their third All-Conference honor after finishing top-21. Lussy earned his first All-Conference award after coming in 18th place.

Junior Rick Nally (26:12.4) made his season debut in 37th and senior Grady Frazier (27:58.2) ran for the first time this season coming in 64th.
