FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The North Texas men’s and women’s cross country teams each finished in the top-10 overall at the 28th Chile Pepper cross country Festival hosted by Arkansas.

The Mean Green men finished eighth among 18 teams running an 8k race. Senior James Coleman led North Texas with a 25th place finish with a time of 24:50.8. Junior Mike Lowe came in 31st with a mark of 24:56.5 and redshirt freshman Alex Cleveland was 53rd at 25:30.5. Sophomore Kyle Maloney finished 67th with a time of 25:52.9 and freshman Tim Jones completed the scoring in 69th at 25:56.5.

“I was really pleased with how we ran today as a group,” cross country coach Stefanie Slekis said. “We have changed the training this year to make sure we are running our best by the end of the season. We got to see the course before we come back to run regionals in November.”

The women’s team came in ninth place after running a 5k meet. Sophomore Susannah Lynch came in 23rd with a time of 17:32.8. Junior Christina Moralez finished 35th at 18:02.8 and senior Kylee Kittrell was 44th touching in at 18:10.4. Sophomore Cassidy Adams was 53rd with a time of 18:22.5 and sophomore Kellee McCann

“Susannah (Lynch) did a nice job running with the Arkansas pack coming away with a personal best time,” Slekis said. “Kylee (Kittrell) ran over two minutes faster than the last time racing here and Cassidy (Adams) ran a personal best time. We wanted to finish higher as a team but our goal is to keep training hard for the last two meets.”
