Cross Country Completes Opening Meet At Baylor Twilight
Women's Team Placed Three In Top 10
WACO – The North Texas cross country teams posted multiple top-10 finishes to start the season strong at the Bear Twilight Invitational Friday night.
“I was really proud of the women’s team for their performance in the first meet,” cross country coach Kevin Williams said. “It was great to see our top three run really well with Susannah (Lynch) leading the way. Rea (Iseli) had a great first collegiate race and Kellee (McCann) improved her time by over a minute.”
The women’s team was matched up against Texas State (20-35) and SMU (30-28) going 1-1 in separate dual meets. The men’s team went 0-2 after facing Baylor (37-20) and Texas State (39-20).
Junior Susannah Lynch led the women’s team with a fourth place finish with a career-best time of 13:37.3. Junior newcomer Rea Iseli wasn’t far behind coming in fifth place with a time of 13:42.7. Junior Kellee McCann finished ninth with a career-best mark of 13:47.9. Junior Baylee Nelson was 22nd with a time of 14:38.2 and senior Victoria Junious came in 34th at 15:07.6.
On the men’s side, freshman Jack Beaumont started his freshman season with a fourth place finish at 18:18.3. Sophomore Hayden Murphy finished 11th with a time of 18:47.7 and senior Rick Nally was 13th at 18:49.3. Freshman Matthew Morgan made his Mean Green debut with a 20th place finish with a mark of 19:21.1. Sophomore Alex Cleveland rounded out the scoring in 22nd with a time of 19.33.3.
“It was a great first collegiate race for Jack (Beaumont),” Williams said. “Hayden (Murphy) ran a very smart race and there is a lot of room to grow with the men’s team. It is a long season but I was pleased with our effort today.”

The Mean Green will host the Ken Garland Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 16, starting with the men’s 4 mile at 8:30 a.m. and the women’s 5k at 9 a.m.
-McCann finished 31 spots better than last season’s Baylor Twilight (9th- 40th)
-Lynch earned her second top 10 finish at the Baylor Twilight after finishing 10th last season
-Freshman Olivia Zint made her North Texas debut coming in 52nd place
-Freshman Eva Mora made her Mean Green debut in 55th place
-Freshman Monica Carroll came in 57th in her North Texas debut
