Mean Green Cross Country Starts Season Strong with a First-Place Finish
Junior Troy Taylor Wins Baylor's Twilight Invitational and the Men's Team Gets First
Baylor Twilight Invite Results
WACO- Troy Taylor won the Baylor Twilight Invitational, leading the men's Mean Green cross-country team to an overall first-place victory. The Women's team placed fifth overall.
Junior Troy Taylor finished in first place, winning the men's 6K race with a time of 18:14.5. The men's team finished with a low 37 points. "Although [Troy] was excited to have won, it was a controlled effort for the men's team" said Coach Stefanie Slekis.
North Texas women's cross-country team finished strong placing fifth overall with 111 points in the 4K race. Slekis said that "the women improved a lot across the board in overall team-time, and all women returners ran around thirty-seconds faster than their times last year."
Right behind Taylor, Alejandro Valencia crossed the line with a second-place finish and a time of 18:18.9. Senior Silvester Harrison was not far behind with a time of 18:45.0 resulting in an eighth-place finish.
On the women's side, senior Charlotte Wilson ran for 12th with a time of 14:26.2 and sophomore Shauna Pali finished with a time of 14:53.8, placing 22nd. Karoline Skatteboe, junior, from SMU won the Women's 4K race with a time of 13:48.4.
This is the second year in a row that the men's team has won Baylor's Twilight Invitational.

The Mean Green will run at the Gerald Richey Invitational in Arlington, TX on Sept. 13.
Mean Green Quick Hitters
This is Troy Taylor's first first-place win for the Mean Green.
Last year, Alejandro Valencia led the team at the same event with a time of 18:38.9 and a third-place finish.
Charlotte Wilson placed 37th with a time of 15:04.6 at Baylor last year.
