VIDEO: Holiday Giving with Mean Green Sports

Dec. 16, 2015

DENTON — As the holidays approach, North Texas student-athletes took time out from their busy schedules to give back to the community and lend a helping hand to those in need.

The North Texas track and field team, among other student-athletes, participated in the fourth annual winter garment drive. Kedron Sowells, a senior on the track team, helped organize the garment drive, during which they they passed out a record number of winter garments and food to the homeless in downtown Dallas.

The North Texas softball team participated in Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, a non-denominational Christian organization that aids in relief across the world. Organized by junior Kelli Schkade, the team shopped for school supplies, hygiene items and fun toys and packed shoeboxes for children in need.
