The 2014-2015 Track and Field schedule has been released.

This year's track team will compete against some of the best teams in the Nation, as well as many conference competitors.

"This is one of the most competitive schedules we have put together," Head Track and Field Coach Carl Sheffield said. "It will offer all our student-athletes the best opportunity to compete at the highest level at some of the best venues in the country. We return a fantastic group of junior and senior leaders along with some outstanding new talent, this year."

The track program has added new talent that will help the team have a successful season. "On the women's side, freshmen Elizabeth Osondu was the Texas state 5A runner-up in 400m," says Sheffield "Lafiel Smith was added to the men's team, [he] will help in the hurdles and long jump. Lafiel competed in the Texas State 4A Championships in the 300m Hurdles, Long Jump and 4 x 400m Relay."

Returners like junior Mona Landry, senior Chastity Stewart and junior Connor Bey, among many others, are also big comptetitors going into the 2015 season.

"This will be our second year competing in Conference USA. We know a little more of what to expect" Sheffield said. "We have gotten a little better quality depth on both sides, this year. The number of quality finalist hurt us in championships last year. W should be better at placing more individuals in the finals at this years championships."

"Our goals remain the same as my first year here as head coach. Graduate every student-athlete that puts on a North Texas uniform. Be competitive as a team, in Conference USA, and qualify as many individual athletes to the National Championships, in Eugene, OR," said Sheffield.

With a talented team and a strong coaching staff, North Texas is prepared for the upcoming season, which starts January 16th, 2015, at the Texas A&M Challenge.
