Women's Track Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

DENTON, Texas (8/4/10) – The North Texas women’s track & field team was one of two Sun Belt Conference teams to be named a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association All-Academic Team for the 2009-10 academic year on Wednesday.

A total of 151 institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better as dictated by the USTFCCCA. The Mean Green compiled a 3.18 team grade point average.

In addition to the women being named, Brittani Simmons also garnered All-Academic honors individually.

The North Texas women competed in two events at the 2010 NCAA outdoor championship in Eugene, Ore.

Alysha Adams nabbed a 17th place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and the women’s 4 x 100 meter relay of Brittani Simmons, Adams, Missy Barnes and Brittany Blaylock finished 11th in the nation.
