MIRIMAR, Fla. - Freshman Terrance Williams claimed second place in the long jump at the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships for Team USA on Friday evening.
Williams was awarded the silver medal after clearing 7.54 meters, just .04 meters short of fellow Team USA competitor Devin Fields (7.58 m).
The freshman qualified to be a member of Team USA at the US Junior Championships with an identical jump of 7.54 meters.
The medal marks two straight Pan American Championships in which a North Texas athlete has finished on the podium.
Then freshman Keyth Talley took second in the 200 meter dash in 2009 and was a member of the 4x100 meter relay that set the Championship record and won gold.
