DENTON, Texas - Mean Green track & field junior Steven White left for the 2012 United States Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., on Tuesday.
Fresh off a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, White has currently posted the 15th fastest time entered into the 400-meter hurdles event at 50.07 seconds. That time is just under one second behind the fastest collegiate competitor.
The 400-meter hurdles qualifying rounds will be contested on Thursday at 8 p.m. CT, with the top-16 finishers advancing to Friday's Semi-Final Round at 5:35 p.m.
From there, the eight fastest runners will advance to the US Olympic Trials Finals on Sunday evening for a chance to finish among the top-three and compete in London, England as a member of the US Track & Field Olympic Team.
The NBC Sports Network will carry the qualifying and semi-final round action with NBC picking up the television coverage for Sunday's final race.
