Adams, Williams Head To USA Championships

DENTON, Texas - Two North Texas student-athletes head to Eugene, Ore., for the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships being held Thursday, June 23 through Sunday, June 26 at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

Senior hurdler Alysha Adams will compete in her last competition as a member of Mean Green track & field Saturday as she qualified for the 100-meter hurdles.  She will be in heat four of the event, which starts at 1:20 p.m. PT with the preliminary rounds. The top three from each heat along with the next three fastest times will advance to the finals which will be held at 2:37 p.m. PT on Sunday.

Joining Adams in Eugene will be freshman Terrance Williams.  Williams, who will be competing in the USA Junior Championships, takes to the long jump pit at 1 p.m. PT on Friday. As always in the long jump, the top eight will advance to the finals.

North Texas sophomore Steven White was a member of the USA Junior World Championship teams in 2010 as a freshman and participated in the IAAF World Championships in Canada.

If either athlete finishes in the top two of their events, they will be selected as a member of their respective USA World Championships teams.

The Senior IAAF World Championships will be held August 27- September 4 in Daegu, South Korea, while the junior teams will compete in the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships, July 22-24, in Miramar, Fla.
