Victoria Junious Earns C-USA Postgraduate Scholarship

June 21, 2018

IRVING – Senior track and field student-athlete Victoria Junious was awarded the Conference USA Jim Castaneda postgraduate scholarship, announced today.

This is the 10th year the award has been named for Dr. Castañeda, who served Rice University for 46 years as an educator, coach and Faculty Athletics Representative before he passed away in November 2008. The conference annually awards the $4,000 postgraduate scholarships to graduates as selected by the C-USA Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Board of Directors.

Junious, a four-year member of the North Texas track and field team, graduated with a 3.98 GPA in kinesiology-allied health and was accepted to the Texas women’s doctor of physical therapy program. She served a two-year term as North Texas’ SAAC president and received the C-USA Academic Medal four-consecutive seasons. Junious came away with nine top-five finishes as a mid-distance runner in 2018.
