Steven White Advances at NCAA West Prelims

AUSTIN, Texas - Mean Green junior Steven White advanced to the second round of the NCAA West Preliminaries in the 400-meter hurdles at Mike A. Myers Track Stadium of Thursday.

White, who advanced based on being the heat winner, recorded the sixth fastest time in the round at 51.67 seconds.

He will run in the second round tomorrow afternoon for the right to run in the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa next month.

Sophomore Clinton Collins fell just short of the next round as he finished 25th overall in the 400-meter dash in 47.43 seconds. His 25th-place finish was the first slot eliminated.

Jo Adams joined in Collins's heartbreak as she took home 26th in the 1500-meter run.  Her time of 4:30.85 was nearly 15 seconds better than senior Sara Dietz who finished 43rd.

Chastity Stewart will kick off the action tomorrow for North Texas in the100-meter hurdles before CJ Fowler gets his chance in the 200-meter dash.

Aaron Sirles and the men's 4x100-meter relay will compete on Saturday.
