Track Qualifies 11 For NCAA West Prelims

DENTON, Texas - Mean Green track & field will be sending nine athletes and two relay teams to the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in Eugene, Ore. May 26-28, the NCAA announced Thursday.

Hurdler Alysha Adams earned the highest seeding of North Texas athletes as she heads into competition at No. 5 in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.08 seconds.  

Adams will also run in the 100-meter dash and as a member of the 4x100 meter relay. 

The senior earned the Sun Belt Conference Most Outstanding Women's track Athlete and the Top Meet Scorer Awards at the SBC Outdoor Championships last weekend where she won gold in the 100 and 200 meter dash, the 100-meter hurdles and the 4x100 meter relay.

Joining Adams on the women's side will be seniors Brittany Blaylock and Christal Brewster.

Blaylock enters competition with the 31st fastest time in the 100 and Brewster will be competing in the pole vault.

The men's side features Justin Flowers, Clinton Collins, Darnell Greig, Steven White and Jordan Wehr all qualified individually along with the men's 4x400 meter relay.

Flowers and Collins will be running in the 200-meter dash and enter ranked No. 35 and 48 respectively. Collins is the only Mean Green freshman running in the event.

That duo will be join by Greig, who qualified 36th in the 400, and White, who is currently 35th in the 400-hurdles, the form the men's 4x400 meter relay.

Wehr is the lone field representative for North Texas as he will be participating in the pole vault.

The NCAA West Preliminary Rounds will be held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., May 26-28.
