DENTON (5/10/05) - Ciji Brooks was named the Sun Belt Conference's Women's Track Performer of the Week for her record-setting performance at the UTA Open.
Brooks anchored the North Texas track and field team by setting the school record in the 100-meter hurdles.
The junior ran a career-best 13.74, qualifying her for the NCAA Regional Meet. Brooks now holds three of the five fastest 100-hurdles times and the top-two shot put throws in school history.
Brooks is the second straight Mean Green athlete to be named to the honor. Rachael Runnels won the award for her two gold medal performance at the Jason's Deli Mean Green Twilight Invitational.
The women's track team will look to win the program's first ever season sweep at this weekend's conference championship meet. The Mean Green women won the school's first-ever indoor crown earlier this season, and will contend for the outdoor title beginning on Friday, May 13 in New Orleans.
