Mean Green Track & Field To Compete At John Jacobs Invitational
North Texas With Two Meets Left Until Conference USA Championships
DENTON - The North Texas track & field team will participate in the 48th annual John Jacobs Invitational on April 21-22 at the John Jacobs Track & Field complex.
North Texas will be competing with nine teams, including host Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Plains, Wichita State, Butler Community College, Missouri State University and Texas-Arlington.
The meet will begin on Friday, April 21, with the hammer throw event starting at 5 p.m. The invitational will conclude with the 4x400-meter relay event on Saturday, April 22, at 4:05 p.m.
The Mean Green will be sending student-athletes to compete in 17 events hoping to earn numerous personal records and top times.
The women's team will have four competitors in the pole vault, including freshman Bailey Ashmore (3.83 meters) and sophomore Blake Skoog (3.66 meters). Junior Chelsea Classo will take part in the triple jump holding a 12.39 seeding, which is fourth coming into the event. Freshman standout Kristyn Archuleta will be throwing the discus and the hammer throw.
On the men's side, junior Tevaun Scallion and freshman Jacob Kevetter will run in the 110-meter hurdles and the 400m hurdles. Freshman Howard Grant will compete in the long jump for the second-straight week. Classmate Karl Sralla will throw the discus, hammer throw, and javelin. Junior Kevone Kennedy will look to improve his marks in the discus and hammer throw.
The Conference USA Championships will be hosted by UTEP on May 11-13 in El Paso.
