Teams Will Participate In Three California Meets

DENTON – The North Texas track and field teams will head to California to participate in three different meets in the Bryan Clay Invitational, Mt. SAC Relays, and Beach Invitational from April 19-21.
North Texas will be competing in California for the sixth-straight season giving student-athletes a chance to run faster times to qualify for NCAA preliminaries.
Senior Mike Lowe will run in the 10000-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 19 at 11:45 p.m. central time. Lowe finished third in the event last year at the Mt. SAC Relays with a career-best time of 29:53.89. Lowe is hoping to break the school record set by Juan Zetina on April 3, 1980, with a time of 29:44.0.
On Friday, April 20, senior Victoria Junious and junior Baylee Nelson will take part in the 800-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Also, junior Rea Iseli is set to compete in the 1500-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Sophomore Florian Lussy and senior Christina Moralez are entered in the 5000-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Also on Friday, the North Texas 4x100-meter relay teams will participate in the Mt. SAC Relays. The men’s team is Darien Porter, James Cole, Alford Tribble and Dominique Drayden. The women’s team is Taylor Blackshire, Aneesa Scott, Bria Williams and Breanna Eckels.
The rest of the team will be competing at the 24th annual Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State on Saturday, April 21. Sophomore Kristyn Archuleta (48.54 meters) and junior Javier Lopez-Ibarra (66.55 meters) both are top-25 in javelin. Both could improve those numbers this week at the Beach Invitational. The sprinter's group will have a chance to improve on their season-best times in hopes to qualify for NCAA West Prelims on May 23-26.
