Mean Green Track Continues To Roll In Norman

Norman, OK (04-16-05) The Mean Green track and field team qualified two more events for the NCAA Regional Meet and toppled another school record at the John Jacobs Invitational.

“We had a great day on the track,” said North Texas head coach Rick Watkins about his team’s third trip to Norman, Okla. “Anytime you run that well and can qualify more athletes for the regionals, you had a good day.”

Jessica Henderson erased her own school record in the hammer throw by over five feet and finished in sixth place. The senior’s toss of 45.47-meters is the fourth best throw in the Sun Belt Conference this season.

Jarrod Stone qualified for regionals in the long jump with a leap of 7.36-meters. The senior’s leap earned him a second place finish and was the best in the Sun Belt this season.

Also recording the conference’s top mark, the men’s 4x400-meter relay team qualified for regionals with a time of 3:09.56. The group finished in fifth place.

The Mean Green will return to action on April 23 at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas.
