DENTON, Texas - Steven White and the North Texas track & field team are set to leave the state of Texas for the first time in the 2012 outdoor season when they head to the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, Okla., on Saturday.
White, who is the two-time defending Sun Belt Men's Track Athlete of the Week, will be looking to lower his season best time in the 200-meter dash after two straight weekends of school record breaking times in the 400-meter hurdles.
The junior currently sits at No. 27 in the NCAA in the 200-meter dash and is the only member of the Sun Belt Conference to post a time under 21 seconds in the event thus far.
Junior Chelsea Hermes will be leading the women's side on Saturday as she is set to compete in both the high jump and the long jump. Hermes is coming off of two top-three finishes at the North Texas Spring Classic and is looking to better her current marks in both events.
The John Jacobs Invitational will be held at the John Jacobs Track & Field Complex on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.
Field events will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the long jump and pole vault, with running events kicking off at 12 p.m.
