Track To Compete at Texas Invite
The Mean Green Plans to Make an Impact in Austin
DENTON--The North Texas track and field teams travels to Austin Saturday, April 11 to compete in the Texas Invitational.
This is the second outdoor meet at the University of Texas. The Mean Green competed at the Texas Relays March 25-28, and will compete at the Longhorn Invite on May 2.
"Practice has gone well this week," said head coach Carl Sheffield. "We have had terrific weather and the intensity has been very high coming off the last high-energy weekend at Baylor."
At the track team's last appearance at the inaugural Baylor Invitational on April 3, North Texas's Alejandro Valencia placed first in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:10.94, setting the meet record.
Shahaf Bareni placed fourth in the high jump, completing a 1.70m jump. Dominique Best placed fourth in the women's long jump with a 5.73m jump, and Mona Landry placed seventh with a 5.65m jump, and fourth in the 100 meter dash.
"Our goals are to get healthy and continue to prepare our best team to take to the conference championships in El Paso," Sheffield said.
